Facts on Energy: Links to new sources w.i.p.
I now have a whole new level of peer reviewed research as back up for what was partly qualitative opinion , it does not change the blindingly obvious end game but adds quantitative reason and datelines to inevitability.
We have to push harder to overcome the from the ignorance and stupidity of politicians and green religionists who delay the inevitable which is also an economic necessity. There is even a negative environmental effect from delaying the removal of fossil generation by offsetting it with hugely expensive windmills (3x nuclear per kWh for offshore currently, 2.5x inshore per the RAE study) which keeps coal in operation for longer. We can simply build much cheaper nuclear power to replace coal which requires no offset or duplication because it is zero carbon (yes, full absorption costs with clean up).
BTW - cleanup costs which are greater for coal than nuclear fission because of the much larger waste output with its toxic content BTW).
Another great inferred lie. Politically correct use of language denies the greatest discovery of the 20th Century, nuclear enginering, which can make nuclear a renewable technology. The very essence of this biggest breakthrough of the 20th Century is that we can make our own fuel by reprocessing spent fuel and a range of heavy elements to give us supplies for 100s of years, probably indefinitely IF the appropriate investment is made in Breeder reactor technology.
We have a zero carbon renewable power source in nuclear, its the cheapest and fully controllable way to power UK plc and eventually replace all fossil power generation - at today's energy prices.
